A Brief History of North Texas Pathways
After conversations with several college students who had been involved with the "Celebration" program while in high school, the concept was well received, and an organizing committee was formed to explore the possibility of a new program. There were no programs in Presbyterian Cursillo or Presbyterian Pilgrimage that were specifically designed for young adults, based on the full three day, fifteen talk format found in Cursillo, so the committee set about developing the program.
In April, 2008 the North Texas Presbyterian Cursillo Council approved the draft by-laws and weekend format for the program now known as "Pathways." Later that year, the Council approved the first weekend dates, and the Council's Moderator Nominating Committee selected the first two Moderators in August, 2008. It is the vision of the organizing committee that North Texas Pathways will be a community that continues to provide opportunities for young adults to serve Christ, and for their peers to continue to build on their faith journey. The first weekend was held June 4-7, 2009, with the second weekend to be held May 20-23 at Camp Gilmont, near Gilmer, TX. North Texas Pathways is committed to assisting the development of additional Pathways programs in other communities.
